Powhatan Parks & Recreation is hosting a fascinating on-location presentation and tour of the historic Powhatan County Courthouse on October 21, 2026, 6:00pm-7:00pm. Led by John Rothert, President of the Powhatan County Historical Society, this engaging program will explore the courthouse’s history, architecture, and central role in the life of the community. Attendees will also hear the dramatic account of the famous murder on the courthouse steps in July 1899, a gripping chapter in Powhatan’s past that still captures local interest today. This special evening offers a unique opportunity to experience history where it happened and gain deeper insight into one of Powhatan County’s most significant landmarks.
