Megan Heatwole is a Virginia native raised in various parts of the Commonwealth, including Staunton, Lexington, and Chesterfield County. Recently, Megan came to Powhatan County from Lynchburg, Virginia, where she served the Parks & Recreation Department for seven years. Megan grew up as a Parks & Rec kid, attending summer camps, park concerts, art fairs, parades, haunted trails, feeding the ducks, and playing recreational soccer and softball. Megan has over 16 years of experience in recreation working in numerous departments and localities across the county, from Colorado to Lake Tahoe. For fun, Megan enjoys hiking, paddling, skiing, singing, and playing music. "This is more than a job to me, it is a purpose. Access to parks, recreational activities, and events is the backbone of a healthy and thriving community." Fun fact: Megan paddled 120 river miles on a stand-up paddleboard on the James from Lynchburg to Maidens Landing. She is excited to share her recreational knowledge, experience, and creativity with the Powhatan community!
