Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission (PRAC) - PRAC Meetings 2026 The Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission (PRAC) is a panel of county citizens who act as a liaison between the public, the Board of Supervisors and the County Administration to advise on development, funding, programming, land acquisition, and maintenance related to Parks and Recreation activities and facilities. Meetings: PRAC welcomes all members of the community who want to stay informed and engage in the upcoming developments within our county parks and programs. Meetings are typically held on the first Thursday each month, in the training room at Pocahontas Landmark Center, 4290 Anderson Highway, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Meeting Dates (2026): January 8, February 5, March 5, April 2, May 7, June 4, July 9, August 6, September 3, October 1, November 5.

Pickleball Open Gym - Winter Indoor Pickeball Pickleball Open GymPickleball Open Gym is offered at Pocahontas Landmark Center Gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Three indoor courts are available for play on a first come, first served basis. Players can purchase a Pickleball Play Pass, which includes 10 sessions for $25.00. Passes do not expire. Visitors have the option to pay a daily drop-in fee of $3.00 if they do not wish to purchase a pass. Daily drop-in fee: $3.00Pickleball Play Pass (10 sessions): $25.00Note: No food or beverages other than water are allowed in the gym. Soft-soled athletic shoes only.Program does not occur on County-observed holidays.

Open Gym Walking - Winter Indoor Walking Open Gym Walking!Open Gym Walking is available to the public Monday through Thursday year round from Noon until 1:00pm in the PLC Gym. The program is free to Powhatan County Residents. Non-Residents pay at $10.00 fee per session (Winter Session; Spring & Summer Session; Fall Session)Winter schedule is Monday-Thursday beginning December 1, 2025 through March 31, 2026Spring & Summer schedule is Monday-Thursday beginning April 1, 2026 through July 31, 2026Fall schedule is Monday-Thursday beginning August 3, 2026 through November 30, 2026*Please NOTE- The gym is not available on the following dates:County Holidays, Holiday Open Gym program, and Summer Camp dates. After School Hoops - After School Hoops - Open Gym Basketball Meet up at the PLC gym after school on Mondays and Wednesdays during the school year for a pick-up game with friends. This time is reserved for basketball only. There are six basketball hoops on one full-size court. Games can be split into half-court for multiple games. All games are self-monitored, so good sportsmanship and proper conduct are expected. Advance registration is appreciated.Free!Note: No food or beverages other than water are allowed in the gym. Gentle Yin Yoga - Gentle Yin Yoga Gentle Yin Yoga is a slow-paced, all-levels yoga class designed to help participants start the week with calm, balance, and relaxation. The class focuses on gentle, longer-held stretches primarily done on the mat, allowing time to release tension, reduce stress, and improve flexibility and joint mobility. Yin Yoga encourages stillness, mindfulness, and breath awareness, offering a quiet space to unwind from daily stress and become more present.This class is suitable for beginners and all ages, and is especially beneficial for those seeking stress relief, relaxation, and a gentle approach to overall wellness. Modifications will be offered so participants can practice comfortably and safely.*Participants are encouraged to bring their own mat! A limited number of mats will be available for those that may need one.
