As the weather warms up head outdoors for relaxed, creative fun! Meet up at the small pavilion at Fighting Creek Park for unstructured playtime mixed with hands-on art activities perfect for little explorers. Held third Fridays in April and May, each session introduces a new theme and a guided art project designed to spark imagination and creativity in children ages 2–5. Recreation staff will be on site at the small shelter.

Preschool Playtime - Pre-School Playtime Preschool Playtime!On Fridays, from 10:00am-11:30am from November to March, the PLC gym is transformed into an indoor playground. Bring your little ones to enjoy open gym play with other pre-school aged kids. Playtime encourages physical activity, creativity, and social interaction while giving parents and caregivers a chance to connect.

As the weather warms up head outdoors for relaxed, creative fun! Meet up at the small pavilion at Fighting Creek Park for unstructured playtime mixed with hands-on art activities perfect for little explorers. Held third Fridays in April and May, each session introduces a new theme and a guided art project designed to spark imagination and creativity in children ages 2–5. Recreation staff will be on site at the small shelter.

Mobile Outreach Training with Goochland Powhatan Community Services - Understanding ACEs As part of our Winter Wellness Adult Enrichment Program Series, Goochland Powhatan Community Services is hosting 3 training sessions that empower participants with lifesaving knowledge and practical skills.
February 18 - 10 Things Your Loved One Wishes You Knew About Their Substance Use (hosted by Mobile Outreach) Learn a science-based approach to support loved ones with compassion, not conflict. Key Takeaways: Understand the role loved ones play in the recovery journey, learn real-life skills to support your loved one.
March 4 - In Their Shoes (hosted by Mobile Outreach) Increase understanding of the complex journeys and daily decisions those impacted by substance use make and how you can fit into their community of support. Key Takeaways: increased empathy and compassion, improved awareness of support and local resources
March 18 - Understanding ACEs (hosted by GPCS Prevention) Learn about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the role they play in developing physical, mental, and behavioral problems throughout the life cycle. You will learn strategies for building individual and community wellness and resilience.

Pickleball Open Gym - Winter Indoor Pickeball Pickleball Open Gym is offered at Pocahontas Landmark Center Gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Three indoor courts are available for play on a first come, first served basis. Players can purchase a Pickleball Play Pass, which includes 10 sessions for $25.00. Passes do not expire. Visitors have the option to pay a daily drop-in fee of $3.00 if they do not wish to purchase a pass. Fee: Daily drop-in fee: $3.00Pickleball Play Pass (10 sessions): $25.00Gym Rules:No food or beverages other than water are allowed in the gym. Soft-soled athletic shoes only.Program does not occur on County-observed holidays.

This unstructured, family-friendly time in the recreation center gym is designed for homeschoolers to be active, socialize, and build community.Kids, teens, and parents can rotate between a variety of activities, including:
